What is contract management software?

Contract management software is a central system for creating, approving, signing, storing and tracking contracts. Instead of agreements scattered across email, shared drives and filing cabinets, every contract sits in one searchable place with an owner, key dates and obligations attached — so renewals, expiries and notice periods are never missed.

Is contract management software only for legal teams?

No. Most contracts are owned by business teams, not lawyers: sales signs customer agreements, procurement manages suppliers, HR handles employment contracts, operations looks after leases and service providers, and finance tracks what the company has committed to. ContractMatters is built so anyone in the business can use it without training.

What kinds of businesses use contract management software?

Any business that signs recurring or high-value contracts benefits — including retail and F&B, property and real estate, construction, logistics, professional services, agencies, technology and SaaS companies, clinics, education providers, manufacturers, non-profits and fast-growing startups.

What is the best contract management software in Singapore?

The best contract management software for a Singapore business is one your whole team will actually use: simple to set up, reliable renewal alerts, built-in approvals and e-signatures, data hosted in Singapore and local support. ContractMatters is built around exactly those needs. Use our buyer’s guide to compare any vendor against the same checklist.

What types of contracts can I manage?

Any type: customer and sales agreements, supplier and vendor contracts, NDAs, employment and freelancer contracts, office and retail leases, service and maintenance agreements, partnership and distribution agreements, software subscriptions and more.

How long does it take to set up?

Most businesses are live within one to two weeks: upload existing contracts in bulk, confirm the key dates the system picks out, assign owners and set up approval rules. Larger organisations with complex approvals typically take four to six weeks.

Can I import my existing contracts?

Yes. You can bulk-upload PDF and Word contracts, including scanned documents. ContractMatters reads each file, suggests the counterparty, contract value, start date, end date and notice period, and asks a person to confirm before anything is saved.

When does a business need contract management software?

Once a business has more than roughly 50 active contracts, or contracts with auto-renewal and notice clauses, a spreadsheet becomes unreliable. The most common trigger is a missed notice period that locks the company into another year of a lease or supplier agreement. Contract management software removes that risk with automatic alerts and a single source of truth.

What is the difference between contract management software and CLM?

The terms overlap. “Contract management software” usually means storing, tracking and getting reminders on signed contracts. “Contract lifecycle management (CLM)” covers the full lifecycle — request, drafting, negotiation, approval, signature, obligations and renewal. Many modern tools, including ContractMatters, cover both. See what CLM is.

Who in the business should own contract management?

Each contract should have a named business owner — the person who manages the relationship, such as the account manager for a customer contract or the operations lead for a lease. One person, often in finance, operations or the founder’s office, should own the system itself and its approval rules.

Should contract data be hosted in Singapore?

It is not always required, but many Singapore businesses prefer it. Local hosting keeps confidential agreements close to home and makes customer and partner security reviews easier to pass. Ask vendors exactly where files, backups and search indexes are stored.

How long should a company keep its contracts?

Many companies keep contracts for at least six years after they end, in case a dispute arises, and supporting financial records for at least five years. Set a retention period for each contract type and review it with your advisers.

What are the stages of contract lifecycle management?

The contract lifecycle typically has seven stages: request, drafting, negotiation, approval, signature, obligation management and renewal or termination. CLM software manages each stage in one system so nothing is lost between teams.

Is CLM software only for large companies?

No. Enterprise CLM platforms are built for large legal departments, but business-friendly tools such as ContractMatters provide the same core lifecycle — templates, approvals, e-signature, repository and renewal alerts — for businesses of any size, with a short setup.

What is the ROI of contract lifecycle management?

The biggest returns usually come from avoiding unwanted auto-renewals and missed notice periods, faster contract turnaround for sales, and less time spent searching for documents. A single avoided renewal on a lease, supplier or software contract can be worth more than the system itself.
